Soy protein and fava bean protein have truly become substitutes for animal protein in the food industry. They are used as raw materials for plant-based foods to replace meat and dairy products, and increasingly popular isolated proteins are usually by-products generated during the extraction of oilseeds.

High-quality protein as a by-product
Oilseed crops such as soybeans, rapeseeds, sweet fava beans, sunflower seeds, or flaxseeds are commonly used raw materials for the production of high-quality oils, and their residual filter cakes still contain high-quality proteins such as soy protein or fava bean protein. More and more oil mills are starting to process these filter cakes. In addition to plant proteins, the remaining fibers, also known as soybean dregs, can also be dried and processed.

Our equipment is used to extract protein from oilseed crops with a production capacity of 200 kilograms (441 pounds) per hour.
The principle of extracting plant protein from soybeans, rapeseeds, or faba beans.
Before extracting the protein, the fat or oil contained in the oilseed plants has been separated. The first step is extraction, which is a multi-stage process to extract the oilseed plant protein from the filter cake or soybean, rapeseed, or faba bean flour. The next step is coagulation, where the protein settles and separates in the solution. Depending on different requirements, additional cleaning steps can be implemented to increase the protein content of the precipitate, allowing for the production of concentrated protein or even high-purity isolated protein, such as pea protein isolate.
The protein produced in this way has the highest purity and excellent functionality, and can be directly sent for spray drying. To achieve optimal protein yield, any excess non-functional proteins can be recovered through the thermal precipitation method. The remaining fibers are washed when necessary, followed by mechanical dewatering using a Fu Lai Wei belt press, and finally drying.
