Working Principle

The horizontal decanter centrifuge operates on the principle of accelerated sedimentation. The feed material enters the rotating bowl through a stationary feed tube and is accelerated in the feed chamber. Under high centrifugal force (up to 3,000 G-force), heavier solid particles deposit on the bowl wall forming a sediment layer, while the lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring and overflows through adjustable weir plates.

The screw conveyor rotates at a differential speed relative to the bowl, continuously moving the deposited solids toward the conical discharge end. The solids are pushed up the "beach" section against centrifugal force, allowing additional liquid drainage before discharge. The separated liquid exits through overflow ports at the large end of the bowl.
