A decanter is a centrifuge for separation of suspensions of solid matter and one or two liquids with different densities into separate liquid and solid phases.The main components of a decanter centrifuge are the bowl , the conveyor, the gearbox , the frame with the casing , and the feed and the discharge arrangement. 

 

Structure of the Decanter Centrifuge Separator

Feeding

The material is fed into the distribution chamber of the screw conveyor through the feed pipe, where the material is smoothly accelerated and enters the rotating drum through the outlet of the screw conveyor.

Drum

Separate the materials in the cone and column drum. The drum rotates at a certain speed . The mixed liquid rotates under the drive of the drum, The denser solids in the liquid are deposited on the inner wall of the drum under the action of centrifugal force.

The screw conveyor and the drum rotate asynchronously in the same direction, and the separated solid is pushed toward the cone section along the axial direction.

Dual drive--ABB motors

Two-Phase Decanter Centrifuge Separator

TThe decanter centrifuge separator consists of a rotating drum, a spiral, a differential, and a machine base. It separates liquid and solid phases based on their density differences. The material is fed into the spiral inner cylinder through a feed pipe and enters the rotating drum after acceleration. Under the centrifugal force, heavier solids form a sediment layer on the drum wall, while the lighter liquid continuously overflows from the drum's large end. The deposited solid phase is pushed by the spiral to the cone end and discharged through the slag discharge port. This machine is compact, operates continuously with stable performance, and is widely used in various industries.

 It is suitable for separating suspensions containing solid phase with a particle size greater than 0.005mm, a weight concentration ratio ≤10% or a volume concentration ratio ≤70%, and a solid-liquid specific gravity difference ≥0.05g/cm3. Widely used in food and beverage, environmental protection, chemical, non-mineral, pharmaceutical and other industries.

 

Three-phase decanter centrifuge

The three-phase decanter centrifuge is an enhanced version of the two-phase horizontal screw machine, with the addition of a heavy liquid pressure discharge mechanism. It operates by continuously introducing material into a spiral inner cylinder through a feed pipe, which then enters a rotating drum and undergoes acceleration. Utilizing the specific gravity difference between the liquid and solid phases, heavier solid particles accumulate on the drum wall, forming a sediment layer. The spiral continuously pushes the deposited solid phase towards the cone end of the drum and discharges it through a slag discharge port. The two liquid phases are separated into a light liquid phase and a heavy liquid phase. The light liquid phase is discharged by gravity through the larger end overflow of the drum, while the heavy liquid phase is discharged under pressure through an impeller mechanism. This enables the separation of a three-phase mixture consisting of liquids of different densities along with solids..
